Blackpool nearing deal for National League hotshot

League One side Blackpool are closing in on a deal to sign striker Adi Yussuf from National League side Solihull Moors, the Blackpool Gazette has reported.

The Blackpool Gazette has reported that Solihull Moors hotshot Adi Yussuf is close to completing a deal to join League One side Blackpool.

Yussuf has been in strong form for Solihull Moors over the course of the 2018/19 National League season. The striker has netted 21 goals across all competitions, playing an important role in the side that earned a place in the play-offs at the end of the season.

However, his goals could not fire Moors past eventual finalists AFC Fylde and they will be playing their football in the National League once again.

Yussuf, on the other hand, seems set to make a move to the Football League. Blackpool are set to make the 26-year-old the Tanzanian striker their first signing of the summer, with Plymouth centre-back Ryan Edwards reportedly also on the radar.

He has already said his goodbyes to his current club, saying:

“I would just like to say I’ve had a great two seasons but after weeks of negotiations, unfortunately, me and Solihull could not come to an agreement with a new contract.

“A new challenge now awaits me. Thanks to all the Solihull fans that made me feel welcome. I made some great friends and had some great times. I wish Solihull all the best in the future.”

Yussuf has played for a number of football league clubs, playing for Burton Albion, Lincoln City, Mansfield Town and Grimsby Town, as well as a number of non-league sides.
